It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, and Blizzard is celebrating.
Overwatch has had a pretty hectic past few weeks, and it’ll be nice to wind things down and celebrate with some festive cheer over the holiday season.
Last month, some crafty Overwatch fans managed to dig up some Christmas-themed audio files from deep within the game, hinting at some festive events coming to the popular multiplayer shooter.
The gaming world is strangely silent during the Christmas period, while Christmas-themed films tend to bring the family together at the same time every year.
However, recent years have seen growing interest in Festive events, such as GTA Online‘s Christmas-themed events, and even the likes of Saints Row and Animal Crossing getting into the spirit.
Overwatch will join in that spirit, as confirmed by Blizzard on the game’s official Twitter account.

It would be downright strange not to celebrate Christmas in some way, especially with the new Antarctica map.
The Tweet is excitingly jolly, inviting players to a Christmas event that starts on Christmas 13.
It will undoubtedly bring with it a handful of Christmas-themed skins and the like for characters and the maps, and hopefully there’s a festive-themed story-based mode similar to the Junkenstein’s Revenge brawl that appeared in the Halloween event.
