The best Derrick Rose build in NBA 2K27 is no longer one you make yourself. Since Season 2 began on October 16, Rose has been one of 2K’s official GOAT Builds: a preset 6’3” point guard whose speed, agility and dunking go past the limits of the normal MyPLAYER Builder. The catch is the unlock. You need to reach REP Elite VIII, the same tier as the Michael Jordan GOAT Build.
Below are his full ratings, what you can and can’t change, where your Cap Breakers do the most good, and when a custom Rose-style build is still the better choice.

2K confirmed the position, the unlock tier and what stays locked in its Season 2 Courtside Report. The measurements and ratings come from the in-game builder as players report them. Several community databases list identical numbers, but 2K hasn’t published them itself.

Where Rose breaks the normal caps
A custom build with Rose’s body (6’3”, 190 lbs, 6’8” wingspan) has fixed ceilings on every attribute. Rose goes through five of them: Speed With Ball is 99 where a normal build at his size stops at 92, Strength is 70 against 66, Driving Dunk 99 against 96, Agility 99 against 97 and Speed 99 against 98.
Speed With Ball is the one you’ll feel. Seven points on the attribute that decides how quickly you move with the ball is something a regular build can’t get however long you grind. Attributes that already sit above their cap can’t take Cap Breakers, so these five stay exactly where they are.
The weaknesses
The speed has to come from somewhere. His Three-Point Shot is 70 and only reaches 75 with five Cap Breakers, which is low for a guard. Interior Defense is 30, Block 40, and both rebounding ratings sit in the 40s. In practice he’s a driver first, a mid-range shooter second (89, rising to 92), and a player you hide on defense behind a bigger teammate.
You can’t change his jump shot either. GOAT Builds lock signature animations, so you shoot with Rose’s own base and releases at normal release speed. If you’ve spent years tuning a custom jumper, that’s the biggest adjustment.
Best Cap Breakers for the Rose build
Cap Breakers are the one way to shape this build, and what each one buys varies a lot. The biggest raw gains are on defense and rebounding (Interior Defense goes from 30 to 72), but even fully upgraded those stay average, and a point guard rarely lives in the paint. We’d put them where they add to what Rose already does well:

After those, Driving Layup, Ball Handle and Perimeter Defense each gain just one point per Cap Breaker. They’re worth filling in later, not first. Three-Point Shot follows the same one-point pattern and won’t change how he plays.
Badges his ratings reach
You still choose which badges to equip, but his ratings decide how high each one can go. Under the normal badge requirements, his 99 overall ratings reach Hall of Fame on eight badges: Aerial Wizard and Posterizer for finishing, Lightning Launch and Pace for playmaking, and Flash, Pogo Stick, Slippery Off-Ball and Work Horse in the physicals group. Shooting tops out lower, with Gold Static Middy his best, which suits a mid-range game. No rebounding badge reaches Bronze.
How to unlock Derrick Rose in NBA 2K27
Rose is a REP reward. Reach Elite VIII and he unlocks along with Michael Jordan. REP is separate from your Season level, which resets every season, so working through the Season 2 reward track won’t get you there on its own.
2K is speeding REP up this season: Crew Divisions games earn a 25% REP bonus throughout Season 2, along with double Crew XP. If Rose is the goal, that’s the mode to play.
Other GOAT Builds are much quicker to get. Eight are available from the GOAT Builds path in the builder from day one, and Magic Johnson, Dirk Nowitzki and a young Kobe Bryant unlock on the Season 2 reward track at levels 26, 33 and 37.
GOAT Build or a custom Rose-style build?
Take the GOAT Build if you play on the ball and attack the rim. Nothing you can make in the normal builder at 6’3” is as fast.
Build your own if you need a reliable three, want your own jump shot, or spend a lot of time off the ball. The standard MyPLAYER Builder lets you trade some of Rose’s burst for shooting and choose every animation.
