The first full trailer for Star Wars: Battlefront II has landed straight out of Star Wars Celebration in Orlando, Florida.
Following on from the trailer’s leak from a few days ago, we now have the official full trailer, which confirms the game’s single-player campaign and storyline.
The two-minute plus trailer shows “game engine footage”, with hints of gameplay from both the single-player and multiplayer offerings.
There’s a tease of “the untold soldier’s story”, with the campaign seemingly based around a young woman fighting for the Empire in years after the end of Return of the Jedi.
Battlefront 2 will take us “across all eras”, with the trailer showing as Yoda, Rey, Kylo Ren, and Darth Maul, the best thing to come from the prequels.
It should come as now surprise that Battlefront 2 is getting a campaign.
Perhaps one of the biggest criticisms aimed at DICE’s 2015 offering was that it lacked a single-player campaign. While the Battlefront franchise is synonymous with multiplayer gaming, its entries always had some sort of solo campaign.
EA decided to go the multiplayer-only route with the reboot, however, and a scattered DLC plan and shallow content offering at launch ultimately led to a large drop off in player numbers throughout its life.
Thankfully, these issues are getting addressed with Battlefront 2. EA said in February that the new game will span “multiplayer Star Wars eras”, which we can assume will cover the film franchise, including this year’s The Last Jedi, which hits theatres in December.
Interestingly, this new Battlefront game will be co-developed by DICE and the Montreal-based Motive, along with Criterion, best known for having worked on the Burnout franchise. The studio also developed the recently-released PSVR Battlefront freebie.
EA CEO, Andrew Wilson, said fans can expect to see both The Force Awakens and Rogue One featured in the game in some capacity.

Hell. Yes. I know I shouldn't be, but I'm truly fizzed for this.
