Blizzard’s latest crossover event brings a stylish addition to Overwatch 2: a team-up with the legendary Persona 5 franchise. Titled the Phantom Thieves Event, this collab features themed cosmetics, new challenges, and a pretty generous haul of free goodies, even if the juiciest items are locked behind the in-game store.
The event is live now and runs until September 30, giving players a limited window to jump in and claim free Persona-inspired voice lines, sprays, icons, and more. There’s no need to dive into niche game modes this time around — unlike the Luka event — which makes fulfilling each challenge a lot smoother. But yes, sad news: no free loot boxes this time.

There are 11 Phantom Thieves Event challenges to complete, each rewarding a different cosmetic or XP boost. These challenges can be completed in almost any game mode — barring Total Mayhem and co-op — which means you can grind them out through your usual matches without changing up your routine too much.
Wins and playing on the Stadium map actually double your progress for game count challenges, so if you’re in a rush to capture those flashy rewards, queue up strategically!

The clock’s ticking: Event ends September 30
Here’s the deal: these rewards, nice as they are, won’t be sticking around forever. The Phantom Thieves challenges are only available until September 30, after which the event will vanish like a shadow in Mementos. If you’re aiming to complete that full challenge board and flex the exclusive “Phantom Thief” title, make sure to get your matches in now.
That deadline also applies to the Phantom Thieves skins in the in-game shop. So if you’ve got an eye on those Joker or Morgana outfits, you’ve got less than two weeks to grab them before they disappear, possibly for good.
Should you dive in?
If you’re already feeling the grind from Season 6, here’s your shot to break the loop and sip a little style with some Persona 5 flair. Most of the rewards are relatively easy grabs, even for casual players, and the themed cosmetics are a nice touch, particularly if you’re a Persona fan. While it’s a bummer that loot boxes didn’t make the cut, the free voice lines and Morgana-laced gear might just scratch that collector’s itch.
