With NBA 2K20 now finally out in the wild, players are diving into what is arguably the franchise’s best My Career storyline to date. But what is the mysterious My Player Nation that 2K Sports are sprucing, and how will your choices impact the way the mode plays out?
My Career as mode wouldn’t be what it is today if not for the sheer flexibility of its player creator, and we have a guide available on how to get the absolute best out of your player in our My Player Builder Guide.

This guide may come even more in handy once My Player Nation is introduced in October, and so your choices have weight outside the stock-standard, narrative-driven experience that My Career offers.
At the NBA 2K20 launch part overnight, the community was introduced to MyPlayer Nation, which quickly fuelled chatter across social media and NBA 2K fan forums.

2K Sports then revealed the mode on Twitter the next reveal, without so much as a tidbit as to what My Player Nation is exactly. All we know is that it will be detailed in the coming weeks, and officially launched on October 22, which also happens to be the opening night of the NBA season.
Speculation is of course rife as to what My Player Nation is, given the sheer popularity of both the new My Player Builder, and connected My Career mode. There are a few things it could be, although given it’s launching on opening night of the NBA season, signs point to it in some way being connected to that.

Some on Reddit have speculated that it’s an online mode for My Career, which has been a long-requested feature of NBA 2K games, although it’s anyone’s wonder how that would even be implemented. Given the individualistic drive and personable element of the My Career mode, an online MMO-style mode may not work as effectively.
Others have suggested it’s connected to the actual NBA season as alluded above, which would likely involve your created player being dropped into a match in real time, as it’s happening in real time, and having to play out the match at that exact moment.

It certainly stands to be an interesting new few weeks and months for NBA 2K‘s passionate fanbase. Here’s hoping My Player Nation is another homerun.
