Repawn has banned more than 355,000 cheaters from Apex Legends, report system coming

Apex Legends has quickly established itself as one of gaming’s most popular games of 2019, but with that success comes the inevitable influx of cheaters. Thankfully, developer, Respawn, is well aware, and is working to stamp out exploits and unfair play from the game as soon as possible.

“Cheaters suck,” Respawn said in late March“As of today over 16,000 cheaters have been identified and banned from the game. Cheaters suck. If you run into one, please try and capture the evidence and let us know,” with an easy report card available for you to dob in those filthy cheaters.

Respawn has now provided an update as to the progress of this mass anti-cheater movement.

“As of today we’ve banned over 355K players on PC through Easy-Anti-Cheat,” the developer said.

“The service works but the fight against cheaters is an ongoing war that we’ll need to continue to adapt to and be very vigilant about fighting. We take cheating very seriously and care deeply about the health of Apex Legends for all players.

“We are working on improvements to combat cheaters and we’re going to have to be pretty secretive about our plans. Cheaters are crafty and we don’t want them to see us coming. With that said, we can share some high levels things we’re doing.”

Respawn then went on to explain that it was working with experts directly, both “within and outside of EA”, so that it can learn from then.

Further, it was scaling up its anti-cheat team so that it has more resources to deal with cheating.

Finally, a report feature on PC to report cheaters was on the way, and will be processed directly to Easy-Anti-Cheat.
