Overwatch Uprising 2018: Latest event could take us beyond King’s Row

With the most recent Overwatch event now over, and Season 9 now in full swing, all eyes have turned to the next event, and we know that’ll be the return of last year’s fantastic hoarde mode, Uprising, which has a release date of April 10.

Last year’s Uprising event was Overwatch‘s second horde mode after Junkenstein’s Revenge, and seeing as though we saw that return for this year’s Halloween celebrations, it only makes sense that Blizzard would expand upon the lore in Uprising, and evolve upon what was arguably the best Overwatch event the community’s seen.

The progression design of the mode made for an exceptionally challenging and enjoyable offering, and while Junkenstein’s Revenge certainly stands tall as a great event in its own right, what really separates Uprising from the others is that it actually contributes to the world’s lore in some way.

The return of the event this year points to us once again battling through the streets of King’s Row, although Blizzard may have more in store for us this time around.

It’s been confirmed that King’s Row will indeed be the base of the new Uprising 2018 event, but the latest trailer for the event points to a far deeper experience that moves beyond that area.

How do we know this? Well, watch the video below, and see if you notice something a little different.

You’ll notice that the video mostly covers “Archives File 0382”, which is a breakdown of last year’s Uprising battle starring Mercy, Tracer, Reinhardt and Torbjorn.

What’s interesting, however, is what comes after that: the mention of “Archives File 0274”

It makes the most sense that this would simply be a new mission set on King’s Row, but it would be great if, for once, an Overwatch event goes beyond the primary area that it’s always been based in.

We’ll have to wait and see when Uprising finally hits Overwatch. Stay tuned, with the event set to kick off on April 10.
