PC gamers, rejoice! Destiny 2 is coming to the platform, and Bungie promises to offer a unique experience to make up for skipping the platform with the first entry.
With Destiny 2 set to hit PC at the same time as Xbox One and PlayStation 4, PC gamers will get the first opportunity to jump into Bungie’s fascinating sci-fi world. They can also look forward to platform specific content that Activision says will be “meaningful”.
Speaking during Activision’s quarterly conference call for investors and analysts earlier this month, CEO, Eric Hirshberg, said gamer should expect to hear more about the PC version of Destiny 2 very soon, as we did during tonight’s livestream gameplay reveal.
“With respect to PC, we’re committed to deliver meaningful features that are bespoke for the PC community, and I’m really excited about what we have to show for them,” he said.
Destiny 2‘s PC version will come to Blizzard’s Battle.net platform, which is the “central nervous system for Blizzard games”, and joins a long list of acclaimed titles on the platform.
Eric Hirshberg, CEO of Activision, and Mike Morhaime, president of Blizzard Entertainment, revealed the Destiny 2 Battle.net exclusivity today.
“We thought it would be a great opportunity to bring the Destiny community and the Blizzard community together,” Morhaime said.
Battle.net has been used for Blizzard’s games — the World of Warcraft, Hearthstone, StarCraft, Diablo and Overwatch franchises — but that group will now be joined by the Guardians of Destiny 2.
It stands as an important feature of the Destiny 2 PC experience, which launches alongside the PS4 and Xbox One version on September 8. Read more about the game in our Destiny 2 wiki.
