With The Game Awards 2016 kicking off on December 1, gamers are preparing themselves for what is reportedly set to be a huge event with a number of big reveals.
Industry sources claim as many as ten new games will be revealed during the show, alongside presentations for Mass Effect: Andromeda and The Walking Dead: A New Frontier.
It also seems like Borderlands developer Gearbox Software is set for a big reveal at the event.
Studio CEO, President, and just all-around industry stalwart Randy Pitchford revealed as much in a Twitter conversation with a fan. Pitchford had tweeted earlier that someone had contact the studio to complain about Gears Of War 4 believing Gearbox Software was responsible for it (it was, of course, developed by The Coalition, not Gearbox).
COGConnected‘s Alex Evarett quipped in response that maybe the person was from the future, and that they were talking about a Duke Nukem/Gears Of War game, to which Pitchford responded: “On December 1st, we are announcing something you might really enjoy.”

Considering the context of the Tweet, it suggests it will be a Duke Nukem announcement … although that seems unlikely. Gearbox recently released Duke Nukem 3D: 20th Anniversary World Tour, and has also been linked to a remaster of 2011’s Battlestorm.
There’s also the question of whether Duke Nukem even has the appeal that it used to outside of its retro offering. Fans might clamour for a remaster of older versions from the franchise, but it remains to be seen if people would be interested in a modern version, especially after the failure that was Duke Nukem Forever.
