Mafia 3 patch unlocks framerate after 30fps launch

Mafia 3 PC gamers, rejoice: the game’s framerate has now been unlocked.

The game’s developer, Hanger 13, had locked the framerate at 30 fps (frames per second) upon launch. In a message to fans, the studio said it would take a few more days to refine the game’s performance on PC.

“The team has been hard at work ensuring that Mafia III’s performance is consistent across all platforms, and right now the game runs at a solid 30 frames-per-second,” the studio said in a statement. “We are currently working on an update for PC that will give players the option to play Mafia III at higher framerates.”

As expected, the response wasn’t positive: despite the studio admitting that it still needed to work on getting the game up and running before unlocked the framerate, PC gamers weren’t happy about the restriction.

From today, however, Mafia 3 can be updated via Steam, with a new patch supporting 30fps, 60fps, and fully unlocked fps.

We won’t be reviewing Mafia 3 due to not having received it until after launch. However, we do have a handful of guides, including our Collectibles Guide and Playboy Locations guide. You can also hit up our Mafia 3 discussion forum to chat with other players.
