Marvel Rivals Season 4 Patch Notes: New heroes, modes, and cosmetics

NetEase’s Marvel Rivals is back with a heroic new update, and Season 4 — titled Heart of the Dragon — is bringing major changes, updates, and additions starting September 12, 2025. Get ready for the debut of two fan-favourite characters, a reworked emoji system, fresh ranking rewards and arcade mode updates.

Angela and Daredevil join the fight

Two heavy hitters are entering the arena this season. Angela steps in as the latest Vanguard hero, wielding the power to reshape her Ichors into weapons — or even a shield to deflect incoming damage. Accompanying her arrival, players can grab the exclusive Angela – Skuld 2099 bundle, her Cerulean Lightbringer costume, and a fresh emoji bundle right from the in-game store.

Also joining the roster is Daredevil, bringing his signature flair and street-level justice to the battlefield. While his abilities remain a secret ahead of the launch, he’s expected to add a high-skill ceiling for aggressive players.

New Story Content and Lore

Season 4 dives into deeper storylines, expanding the Marvel multiverse lore with:

  • New Serial: Heart of the Dragon
  • Angela Lore: Her Sister’s Keeper
  • Iron Fist Lore: One True Champion
  • Loki Lore: Destined For Doom

Season 4 Battle Pass: Fruit of Immortality

The new Battle Pass showcases 10 unique costume sets themed around the mystical Fruit of Immortality. Fans can expect new skins for heroes like Moon Knight, Loki, and Phoenix, with progressive rewards tied to rank achievements and participation in seasonal events.

Competitive Updates and Rewards

Rank Reset: As always, ranks are getting a reset. Your final placement from Season 3.5 will be demoted by seven divisions. So, if you ended at Diamond I, you’ll head into Season 4 at Gold II.

New Rank Rewards: Going Gold this season unlocks the elite Angela – Siriana’s Silver costume, while top-tier climbers can net fresh Nameplate Frames at Diamond and Platinum, with Crests of Honor available for Grandmaster, Celestial, Eternity, and Top 500 players.

Welcome to the New Arcade Mode Hub

The Arcade Hub has been fully upgraded, giving players more freedom and variety in casual play. All current and new modes are now permanent, with multiple match options including:

  • Conquest (Annihilation): Classic TDM. Slay enemies, first to 50 wins. Map: Tokyo 2099: Ninomaru
  • Free Fight: Domination-style, no duplicate limit, teams ban 2 heroes. Random map selection.
  • Clone Rumble: Pick from 2 random heroes. First to 100% captures wins.
  • Giant-Size Brain Blast: Returns with the same rules. Map: Tokyo 2099: Ninomaru
  • Doom Match: Standard rules. Map: Empire of Eternal Night: Sanctum Sanctorum

Players can now select up to six arcade modes for matchmaking, and even bring their entire crew along. Plus, you can now earn Hero Proficiency in Arcade: though there’s a daily limit.

New Features and Systems

There’s a flood of quality-of-life improvements and nifty features trickling into Season 4. Highlights include:

  • Emoji Wheel Rework: New display format and support for more in-game use cases.
  • Costume Rotation: Finally randomize your hero styles from selected cosmetic sets.
  • Ability VFX Toggle: Choose whether to see others’ custom ult visuals.
  • Friend Suggestions: AI-driven matchmaking now recommends squad mates based on synergy.
  • PC Slow Walk: A fan-requested feature now makes its way to keyboard warriors.
  • Squad Voice Chat Toggle: Customize your voice comm experience.
  • Gallery Cards: High-res downloads now available on PC and PS5.
  • Team Lobby: Entrance animations now play pre-match.
  • Disconnect Pause: Tournament hosts can pause custom games for dropped players.

College skins get a boost

The College Perk system just hit refresh too. New exclusive skins will be available, including:

  • Magik – Eldritch Armor

The Immortal Beasts event

Complete challenges in the Scroll of the Immortal Beasts event to unlock Ultron – Wasteland Robot. Progress by lighting up Immortal Beast badges and reap the rewards as chaos unfolds.

Twitch Drops Return (Free Skins!)

From September 12 to October 10, 2025, stack those Twitch hours and unlock rewards including the Blade – Will of Galacta costume bundle. Just tune in and watch supported streamers to start collecting.

Tournament Season 4 Kicks Off

The Marvel Rivals Championship returns with new flair:

  • Updated placement rewards – exclusive sprays for Open Qualifiers participants.
  • Dynamic nameplates for champions and finalists.
  • Shorter sign-up phase due to seasonal schedule shift.

Minimum Rank: Platinum III. Top 2,500 slots per Faction, per region. Factions are now nested in the Championship page for easier access.

Bug Fixes and Optimisations

Here are some of the highlights from the long list of fixes and under-the-hood improvements:

  • Hero Selection Wheel: Now includes a “Strike Squad” favorites bar.
  • Career Page UI enhanced for easier stat viewing.
  • Arcade matchmaking and stability boosted across maps.
  • Star-Lord’s Ultimate now respects cover. No more surprise lock-ons.
  • Winter Soldier costume glitch resolved on lower specs. His aesthetics now match his aim.
