Overwatch 2 x NERF event brings foam-firing mayhem, blaster skins, and wild new game mode

Get ready to lock, load, and foam-blast your way to victory, because Overwatch 2 is launching its own NERF event.

Blizzard has announced a brand-new limited-time crossover event: Overwatch 2 x NERF, running from August 6 through August 18, 2025. It’s bringing fast-paced chaos, iconic foam blaster skins, a wacky new mode called NERF or Nothin’, and a bunch of rewards for the most trigger-happy Heroes among us.

Load Up with Legendary Foam: All the NERF Skins Revealed

Swap out your usual payload for plastic, because this event is loaded with weapon skins inspired by classic and current NERF blasters. Here’s a look at the star-studded NERF arsenal coming to Overwatch 2:

  • Cassidy: A Legendary skin featuring the iconic NERF Maverick and a Vortex Football sidekick, complete with custom visuals and unique SFX.
  • Tracer: Earnable Gelfire Pro weapon skins through event challenges.
  • Genji: Dual-wields the Slingerang and Power Blast Bat.
  • Mei: Freezes the competition with the Super Soaker XP100.
  • Hanzo: Fires off the Big Bad Bow.
  • Baptiste: Commands the latest from the Loadout series—the Galactic Commander.
  • Soldier: 76: Brings pinpoint precision with the N Series Pinpoint.

The best part? You can equip these NERF skins on top of your existing Hero skins, so your style doesn’t have to suffer just because you’re bringing foam to a gunfight.

NERF or Nothin’ Mode: Chaos, Cooldowns, and Combat

If you’ve ever wanted to relive a living room NERF battle — but with superpowers and a leaderboard — NERF or Nothin’ is your dream come true.

This mode is a fast-paced 8-player free-for-all, and here’s the kicker: first to 20 eliminations wins. You’ll spawn with a random Hero — excluding Mercy and Lifeweaver, who are taking a breather — and rotate to a new one every time you get a kill. No repeats. If you can’t score an elim in three deaths, you’ll still rotate automatically.

It gets even more bonkers with 80% cooldown reduction across the board. Your Ultimate charge carries over after death, and every new Hero you get starts with 15% Ult charge. Expect nonstop action, mayhem, and plenty of foam flying around.

Maps for the mode include a “greatest hits” lineup:

  • Chateau Guillard
  • Petra
  • Kanezaka
  • Malevento
  • King’s Row
  • Hollywood
  • Dorado
  • Eichenwalde
  • Blizzard World
  • Paris

NERF or Nothin’ is all about adapting quickly, blasting faster, and laughing your way through the foam-fueled chaos. Let’s be real: this might be the most fun you’ve had getting dunked on.

Should You Jump In?

Yeah, you probably should. Whether you’re a long-time Overwatch vet or just here for the party, this collab is a blast of pure fun. It doesn’t try to be too serious, and that’s the point: NERF fights were never about balance. They were about dodging foam darts, yelling “NERF or Nothin’!” and probably hitting your sibling in the eye.

Overwatch 2 just turned that childhood chaos into an actual game mode. Go get messy.
