The powerhouse team behind Elden Ring might have another major hit in the oven — and it could be closer than we expect. A fresh report suggests that Japanese developer FromSoftware is working on a mysterious, multiplatform game, currently known only by its codename: FMC.
According to MP1st, FMC is already in the “advanced stages of production.” That tidbit alone is enough to raise eyebrows, especially considering how stacked FromSoftware’s release calendar already looks. The report implies that unless unexpected delays pop up, we may be able to get our hands on FMC as soon as 2026.

What is Codename FMC?
That’s still shrouded in mystery. FMC is likely a placeholder name, probably an abbreviation of something meatier, but one thing’s clear: this isn’t just a minor side project. The report emphasises that development is quite far along, sparking hopes that a formal reveal could be right around the corner.
FromSoftware has been tight-lipped, having only officially confirmed development of The Duskbloods, which is rumoured to be associated with Nintendo Switch 2. That project alone has fans intrigued, but FMC could signal a broader portfolio push, and potentially an even deeper relationship with Xbox and other platforms.
FromSoft’s busy slate: How do they do it?
Let’s be honest: it’s been a bit of a whirlwind for FromSoftware fans lately. We’re fresh off the release of Shadow of the Erdtree in 2024, not to mention Elden Ring: Nightreign which launched just a few months ago. You’d think the team would be deep in post-launch polish or prequel tuning. Nah – they’re knee-deep in another full-scale production.
It leads many to wonder: is FromSoftware expanding their development teams across parallel pipelines, or is this the result of polished project management and long-term planning? Either way, if FMC really is due by 2026, we’re witnessing an unprecedented output rhythm from Hidetaka Miyazaki’s studio.
What does this mean for Xbox fans?
FMC being a multiplatform title means it’s highly likely we’ll see it on Xbox, and that matters. FromSoftware has historically leaned more toward PlayStation platforms (remember how Bloodborne was a PS4 exclusive?). But with the massive success of Elden Ring across all platforms, the studio seems intent on serving the full spectrum of gamers moving forward.
There’s no word yet on what genre FMC will fall into. Could it be another high-difficulty soulslike experience? Or will FromSoft chart completely new territory like they did with Armored Core VI? Either way, fans are already speculating, and anticipation is building fast.
When will we know more?
Right now, this is all based on strong behind-the-scenes reporting, but nothing has been officially confirmed by FromSoftware. MP1st is confident in its sources and claims that the project is far along, so we might not be far from a reveal possibly via a Tokyo Game Show, or one of Xbox’s own showcases.
Until then, it’s all eyes on Miyazaki and his team. If all goes to plan, we may be stepping into yet another brutally gorgeous world from FromSoftware by 2026, and possibly even getting a look at it within the next year.
