The roster for Overwatch 2 has expanded with the inclusion of Ramattra, Kiriko, and Junker Queen. Not every hero is the same in terms of player acclaim. The meta, or popular strategies and character selections, have been significantly impacted by the switch to 5v5 settings. The gameplay has grown more combative since teams are now limited to one mobile tank. Some heroes have thrived in this environment because of modifications to the balancing of their talents and other factors. Although certain heroes have found it difficult to adapt, as a result, their use has reduced.
To keep track of hero popularity, the website Overbuff has been analyzing pick rates in Overwatch 2. As the game continues to evolve, it will be interesting to see how these trends shift going into 2023. It’s clear that the meta is constantly changing, and certain heroes may rise or fall in popularity depending on the state of the game and the preferences of the player base. Regardless, the diversity of the hero roster ensures that there are a variety of playstyles and strategies available to players, keeping the game fresh and exciting.
It’s critical to keep in mind that a hero’s pick rate, or how frequently they are selected in combat, doesn’t always reflect their degree of power and effectiveness. For instance, Ana now has the highest selection rate (8.93%) but she does not necessarily have the best victory rate, or the percentage of matches won when playing as that hero. The reason for this variation can be due to a number of factors, including player talent and preference. Ana might do admirably in higher ranks, but she might not be as effective in lower ranks.
