When Battlefield 2042‘s release date was pushed back from October 22 to November 19, many diehard fans of the series pondered how they could possibly survive the near month-long additional wait. Thankfully, the long-touted Battlefield 2042 beta release date has been announced, and it’s coming sooner than expected.
With still more than a month until release, hype for Battlefield 2042 has been tempered, especially with the launch of the likes of Far Cry 6 and Call of Duty Vanguard still to come. However, by the conclusion of the Battlefield 2042 beta in a week’s time, the hype meter may just reach overdrive.
EA has officially confirmed its Battlefield 2042 beta plans with details of its release date, with an open beta planned across all platforms from October 8-9.
The awesome news for Xbox owners and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers is that you’ll be able to access the beta earlier from October 6 via EA Play, which is part of your Game Pass subscription. If you’re not subscribed, you can gain early access and play the Battlefield 2042 beta on the October 6 release date by simply pre-ordering the game.
From October 5 you’ll be able to pre-load the Battlefield 2042 beta, giving you plenty of time before the floodgates open.
As far as content goes, what we know is that the beta will include the Conquest game mode (big woohoo!) on a map called “Orbital”.
“Adapt and overcome in the near-future, all-out war of Battlefield 2042. Put boots on the ground in the classic Conquest mode on Orbital – a map where enemy fire and chaotic weather conditions can help or hinder your fight,” the beta’s officially synopsis reads.
The Battlefield 2042 beta will have four playable specialists available to try out. This will arguably be the biggest beta of the year ahead of one of the year’s most anticipated releases, so be sure to either pre-order or subscribe to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate to get early access.
