The MyNBA mode in NBA 2K22 looks set for a range of new features and improvement, which we surely please fans of the long-running and highly underrated simulation mode.
We are mere hours away from the launch of NBA 2K22 on Xbox Series X and Series S, and in the absence of a Prelude demo this year, 2K Sports has been dropping new details via its Courtside Blog report on almost a daily basis.
Today’s report outlines the under-appreciated MyNBA mode, and the news looks incredibly promising.
One of the key new additions is that of the capacity to hire and fire staff at your own discretion across multiple areas, including scouts, team doctors, and even psychologists. Here’s how the breakdown of staff will look:
- Front Office (Governor, GM, Assistant GM, CFO)
- Coaching (Head Coach, Shot Doctor, Bigman Coach, Post Defense Coach, Perimeter Defense Coach, Guard Guru, Wing Whisperer)
- Scouting (Head Scout, 4 Domestic Scouts, 2 Foreign Scouts)
- Sports Medicine (Team Doctor, Strength Trainer, Stamina Trainer, Sports Psych, Sports Science, Physio, Sleep Doctor)
“We redesigned how your staff works from the ground up. New attributes, more than double the staff badges, and a slew of new roles. We’ve completely reimagined this aspect of the mode and are proud to show off the newest addition – MySTAFF,” developer Visual Concepts says in the blog.
Your team’s staff will be divided in four categories across front office, coaching, sports medicine, and scouting. Across that range are 17 slots in total to fill, so there will be a balancing act to refine your coaching strategy and get the right people into the right positions.
There’s also been somewhat of an overhaul to MyNBA’s training mechanics, with the Prep Hub introduced to assist with the conditioning and management of players before, after and during matches.
Staff badges and attributes are also set for an overhaul in MyNBA. A number of new attributes have been created to make the staff strategy component of the experience feel more “universal”, meaning it’s possible to have a staffer that you can freely put in different departments and watch them evolve and improve.
There’s a stack more details and a large breakdown on the official blog, so check out the MyNBA Courtside Report for the full breakdown.
