Xbox Series X UI set for resolution boost, other ‘cool stuff’ in the making

It was perhaps one of the very few criticisms of the Xbox Series X at launch, but the console’s UI is finally set to get a resolution boost.

Xbox Series X users in the Alpha rings preview program will soon get a look in at a brand new boost console UI, with “increased resolution UI” set to bring the console’s main menu up to the lever of its visual game output.

Xbox Insider program lead, Brad Rossetti, took to Twitter to reveal the update.

“Xbox One Insiders – We have a new 2109 build today to Alpha Skip Ahead and Alpha Users at 2.00pm (9.00pm GMT),” he said. “Xbox Series X consoles connected to a 4K display can begin flighting an increased resolution UI.”

If you’re lucky enough to be an Alpha Skip-Ahead and Alpha rings user, you’ll be able to check out the upgrade UI resolution from today.

The news comes off the back of other interesting tidbits coming out of Xbox HQ, with additional features being planned for the near future.

Senior Design Research at Xbox, Jessie Birdy, also took to Twitter to say some “cool stuff” was being planned.

“I was in so many meetings with Team [Xbox] folks this week and all I can say is … Hot damn. There is some cool stuff in the making,” she said.

In response, Shane Osbourne, cloud solution architect at Microsoft, said he couldn’t wait to see the new features in action.

“Can’t wait for the new preview feature this week. Going to be very cool!”

Sounds like Xbox Series X owners are set up for a very exciting next few months.
