Since Overwatch launched way back in May 2016, Orisa, Ana, Sombra, Doomfist and Moira have been added to the game, with Brigitte, our latest Support hero, set to join the ranks after her initiation on the PTR.
All of those new additions are exceptionally different in design and usefulness, but they do have one thing in common: they’ve all gone through their growing pains as the community comes to understand and trust them.
Sombra is still considered an outside pick; Doomfist is struggling for relevance (how anti-climatic!); while Ana is probably the last of the healing Supports to be picked.
Orisa spent some time among the most played heroes, replacing Reinhardt before again falling down the charts. She’s still a super useful trick, and can deal insane amounts of damage if used right.
One hero stands out amongst the crowd, however: Moira.
Perhaps one of the toughest heroes to truly master, Moira is ridiculously fun to play with, with a diverse and complex skill set that is equal parts devastating as it is beneficial to the team.
The way Blizzard has tied her primary healing ability to her damage output demands player accountability and contribution, and while her short-range beam makes it tough to beam up that health meter, her orbs are superb in execution and power, helping make Moira one of the all-time great Overwatch characters to grace our screens.
It should come as no surprise, then, that Moira is among the most player heroes across all skill ranks in Overwatch season 9 of Competitive Play.
Her and DVa round-out the top 2 in all but two skill ranks: Bronze and Grandmaster.
