The Destiny 2 beta is out now on PlayStation 4, allowing gamers to jump into Bungie’s highly anticipated sequel to its 2014 multiplayer epic.
PS4 gamers that pre-ordered the game will be able to jump online now to play the game, while Xbox One gamers that pre-order the game will be able to jump in from 10am PDT (3am AEST) on July 19.
All other console gamers will be able to download and play from the beta from 3am AEST on July 22.
The beta is expected to come to a close at around 10am PDT on July 23.
If you don’t want to wait until it enters into open beta and you’re not particularly keen on pre-ordering the title in your region, there is a workaround that allows you to play the beta early on PS4.
That’s right: you can jump into the Destiny 2 beta right now without having to spend a cent. Here’s how.
Create a new account on your PlayStation 4 with Hong Kong, Singapore or Japanese set as the country.
Find an address from one of those countries, and input the postcode to confirm your location.
If you don’t already have a gmail account, create one. Use that gmail account to verify your account buy putting +country after your email handle. For example, if your email was [email protected], you’d put [email protected] if Singapore was the country you chose during the account creation process.
Head over to that gmail inbox and verify the account. Once you’ve done so, on your console select “Already Verified”.
Push through all of the tedious PS4 account setup options.
Head on over to the PlayStation Store and find the Destiny 2 beta download.
And that’s it! You’re now downloading — and will soon be playing — the Destiny 2 beta on PS4 without having spent a cent on a pre-order.
