Injustice 2 launches on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 with an immediate base roster of 27 different characters. If you pre-ordered the title ahead of launch, you’ll have access to Darkseid straight off the bat.
Otherwise, you’ll probably notice that both Darkseid and Brainiac are locked when you first boot up the game. In this guide I’ll explain how to get Brainiac, and reveal the unfortunate truth about Darkseid for those of you that didn’t pre-order.
How to unlock Brainiac
You’ll need to battle your way through the game’s Story Mode in order to unlock Brainiac. You’re looking at around 3-4 hours to complete.
Thankfully, you’ll play through most of the roster during the 12 chapters, so you’ll get a great insight into the diverse range of character skills and moves on offer in Injustice 2.

So while Brainiac isn’t that tough to unlock, Darkseid’s locked behind a paywall for anyone that didn’t pre-order the game. You’ll need to purchase him for $5.99 USD if you didn’t pre-order.
