In less than 48 hours, we’ll have our very first look at Destiny 2 gameplay.
At 10am PT on May 18 (3am May 19 AEST), Activision and developer Bungie will lift the lid off Destiny 2 in what the studio says will be an extravagant showcase of the game in its current form.
Bungie hosted a new podcast — the first in more than three years — to talk about the upcoming Destiny 2 gameplay reveal.
The podcast makes for fantastic listening, clocking in at an hour with Destiny 2 game director, Luke Smith, and project lead, Mark Noseworthy. Community manager, Eric Osborne, also joins in.
Perhaps the most interesting thing to come from the podcast is that the team is actually at home right now playing a build of the game.
“We have the whole game at home, in a private test realm, and we’re playing the s*** out of it,” Smith said. “That’s actually pretty motivating because you can see the things that are going amazing and the things that are still rough.”
The game is far from done, however, with Smith saying there was still a lot of work to be done.
“If you were playing right now you’d see unnamed items and missing icons, but having a version of the game where you can sit on your couch and relax is great,” he said.
Some press will be on hand to play Destiny 2 at the event ahead of a wider public appearance at E3 2017 next month.
The Destiny 2 gameplay reveal will be quite the spectacle according to the Bungie team, saying it will showcase a “pretty expansive set of content” for the in attendance, and that the goal is to “come out of the gates big”.
Destiny 2 launches September 8 on Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
