Just what is Blizzard up to with this latest string of Overwatch teasing?

The studio has released some images pointing to a big reveal for next week, and Overwatch fans are hyperventilating with speculation as to what could be in store.

Blizzard had initially teased something on its Facebook page, before promptly removing it. It’s since sent the same image to media outlets and published it on Twitter.

The post teases fresh new lore on the King’s Row Uprising, which was alluded to in the Widowmaker short film. Watch it below if you haven’t already.

Some fans are speculating that it could be a brand new story mode. That seems rather far-fetched, but all signs definitely point to something being related to the game’s lore, specifically the Uprising that took place a few years after Widowmaker’s assassination of Tekhartha Mondatta.

In that case, a King’s Row event, titled “Uprising”, seems most likely.

The image itself is rather fascinating, and it points to a number of things being revealed on April 12 (Australian time).

Firstly, Tracer looks set to receive a fancy new skin. This would tie into the Uprising theory, as in the clip we see her battle against Widowmaker.

Secondly, there are two references to Omnics in the image: one with “mandatory registration” (and a QR code that doesn’t work), as well as what appears to be an Omnic factory.

Thirdly, there’s what appears to be a security camera in the subway system of the King’s Row map.

So many questions! It’s clear that Widowmaker’s actions had to have caused a chain reaction, as the correlation between the Omnics, Tracer, and King’s Row are all too coincidental.

Stay tuned for more information on April 12!
