Zelda Breath Of The World expansion pass detailed: Exclusive items, new challenge mode

Nintendo might finally be prepared to embrace expansion packs, DLC, and online gaming with the Nintendo Switch.

The gaming giant today announced its DLC plan for Switch launch title The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild.

It will come as part of an Expansion Pack, which will be available for purchase alongside the game at launch and sell for $19.99 / £17.99 / €19.99. There’s no word yet on Australia pricing.

Those who purchase the expansion pack will be gifted three additional treasure chests, all of which can be found at the Great Plateau.

One of those chests will house a Switch-themed costume for Link, which only expansion pack owners can gain access to.

The other two chests will deliver “useful items”, according to Nintendo.

So what’s included in the DLC pack? Let’s take a look.

The first pack will come this US summer — winter in Australia — and will come with the Cave Of Trials challenge.

This challenge will act as a new hard mode, and will come with a new special feature for the in-game map.

It will be followed by a second DLC pack in the holiday period, which Nintendo says adds “new challenges that will let players enjoy a new dungeon and a new original story.”
