The popularity of Overwatch‘s Capture The Rooster mode has prompted developer Blizzard to think long-term about its place in the game.
The latest update to the Public Test Realm (PTR) adds a host of new changes to the game, including a Server Browser, some subtle map changes, and, of course, tweaks and bug fixes for general gameplay and certain heroes.
Blizzard has introduced a Server Browser, which will allow players to create their own unique Overwatch experience to share with friends or the world.
This is being treated as an extension of the Custom Game mode, and will allow players to adjust a variety of settings across most maps, modes and even heroes.
That means you’ll be able to adjust cooldown times and performance stats for heroes, such as Pharah’s missile speed, or perhaps completely remove the cooldown for McCree’s combat roll.
Once you’re moulded the settings to your taste, you can launch it by setting permissions and choosing whether to make it private or put it to the test by making it public.
It’s currently only available in the PTR, but expect it to hit PC and console within the month (hopefully).
Capture The Flag
Capture The Rooster was the most popular Arcade mode ever, and as such, Blizzard is rewarding the community by adding it as an ongoing game mode.
Lijiang Tower was the only version of the mode that was playable during the Lunar New Year event, but thankfully a number of other maps have been added to the mode, including Nepal, Lijiang Tower, Ilios, and Oasis.
These maps have received a facelift according to these picture, courtesy of the folks over on the Overwatch Reddit.
