They held out for long enough, but Nintendo will finally start charging gamers for its online service.
Revealed during its Nintendo Switch online presentation, the new online service, which will launch with the console, will be available via a free trial upon the console’s release.
Beyond that, however, it will require a paid subscription, with it leading towards a paid model after the US summer.
Similar to PlayStation and Xbox services, Nintendo will also offer a smartphone application to allow users to explore the service’s features.
We have no details on the paid model yet, so stay tuned.
Nintendo revealed a bunch of other details about Switch during the presentation, including launch price and release date, region details, and games.

Ugh. Paying for one sub is OK.....Paying for 3 is starting to get beyond the point where I'm happy.
