If for whatever reason you have an inkling to see what Pokemon tastes like, Starbucks has something right up your alley.
The American coffee shop chain has launched a Pokemon Go Frappuccino, frozen raspberry and blackberry-flavoured twist on the traditional Vanilla Bean Frappuccino.
It’s only available at select US stores, which will also house new PokeStops and Gyms. Reportedly 7,800 locations will sell the Frappuccino.
No word yet on whether a similar promotion is coming to Australian stores: we’ve reached out to Starbucks AU.
The partnership with Starbucks comes as Pokemon Go developer Niantic works to get player numbers back up in the hope of recapturing the mania that took hold upon the game’s release on the App Store.
It still sits atop the 30 most played games on iOS and Android devices, however, and while it may never reach the heights of its launch window, recent promotions will certainly help boost engagement numbers.
Niantic has a lot more up its sleeve for the mobile game: a new update is expected to introduce Gen 2 Pokemon to the game, while there are rumours that Mewtwo and other Gen 1 Legendary Pokemon will be added and hidden across the globe.
There are rumours swirling that a big Christmas event is being planned, which of course would tie into the forthcoming announcement on December 12. It’s expected that the Christmas event will increase the spawn rate of ice type Pokemon, and will run over Christmas from December 20 until December 27.
Then there’s the case of Mewtwo, which, if the rumours are true, will be unleashed on the Pokemon Go masses on New Year’s Ever in New York City’s Time Square.
Interestingly, the original launch trailer for Pokemon Go showed Mewtwo on a big screen in the tourism hot spot.
