There are many, many different weapons in Final Fantasy XV, each with its own unique style, skills, stats and ability.
Some weapons are easy to acquire, generally by purchasing at stores or completing basic side quests, while others may need to be found by searching the game world.
There are eight types of weapons in Final Fantasy XV:
- Swords: These weapons are available to Noctis, and provide fast, efficient bursts of power, although they have only average attack power.
- Greatswords: Noctis and Gladiolus’ weapon of choice, the Greatsword is powerful weapon that outputs the highest level of attack of any other weapon category in the game.
- Polearms: Noctis and Ignis have access to these technical weapons, which are best used in combination with aerial combos.
- Daggers: Noctis and Ignis also use Daggers, which offer a low attack power range, but work well in spellcasting loadouts.
- Firearms: Noctis and Prompto have access to firearms, which are accurate and effective, but have a drop-off in damage, and are most effective at long range.
- Shields: Noctis and Gladiolus have access to shield, which can be used primarily to defend.
- Machinery: Noctis and Prompto have access to these weapons, acting as slow but powerful cannons to take out larger, mechanic weapons and enemies.
- Royal Arms: This is a Noctis-exclusive weapon, each offering extremely unique functionality and features.
Each weapon is broken down into a few key stats:
- Attack: This is the total maximum attack power.
- Critical: The percentage change of hitting a critical hit — double damage.
- Parameter Modifiers: How the weapon changes a specific stat value when a character has it equipped.
- Resistances: The total change in damage reduction percentages against certain elements.
