Swedish reality TV show aims to build a professional CS:GO team

Gamerz is a new reality series by The International Format Group that hopes to put together a professional Counter-Strike: Global Offensive team.

If you can look beyond the stupid name — there’s no excuse for “Gamerz” — the pitch actually sounds quite interest. Thousands of gamers from across Sweden and Europe will all compete for a place on the show and team.

Then, 12 gamers will be selected and moved into a “state-of-the-art gaming facility”, where they will be live streamed 24/7. Each member of the facility will battle their way through elimination challenges and live matches, with five winners eventually chosen and offered a contract.

“Given the great interest it is particularly gratifying that we have created a unique opportunity for all the talents out there who want to become esports professionals,” said CEO Fredrik Ivansson. “We start in Sweden but the ambition is bigger than that – the next step is to launch globally”

Anyone can apply to be on the show, with registration now open.
