Battlefield 1 gets new Hardcore mode, kicks off Battlefest celebrations

Battlefield 1 has received a major update recently, addressing a number of pressing issues and balancing concerns. Arguably the biggest change comes by way of squad improvements, forcing players to be more active squad leaders.

There’s much more happening behind the scenes at DICE, however, and Battlefield 1 continues to go from strength to strength. It outsold Battlefield 4 and Battlefield Hardline‘s launch sales figures combined, and continues to be among the most popular shooters across all platforms.

And now, with such a dedicated community of hardcore players, a suitably named “Hardcore Mode” has been introduced.

The mode removes aim assist and the minimap, and as such is suitable only for the very best Battlefield player.

There’s also a new Fog Of War mode, which is essentially a Domination mode but with — you guessed it — fog. Lots of it.

But wait, there’s more! This update also kicks off Battlefest, which is a ten day celebration that allows players to complete special missions and objectives for unique rewards.

Here’s the full Battlefest schedule for this weekend.

November 17

PTFO Battlefest Mission: Completing this mission will grant you the PTFO skin. You’ll need to play Battlefield on three different days and win a match in Operations.

Road to Battlefield 1 Mission: In order to get the Battlefield 1 Dog Tag and M1911 Incarcerator weapon ski, you’ll need to get 25 kills with the M1911 in either Battlefield 4 or Battlefield Hardline.

Battlefest Battlepack Update: New Battlepacks are being added.

November 18

Black Friday Sale: EA is offering a huge number of online discounts.

#FridayNightBattlefield Battlefest: A number of special Battlefield 1 servers have been set up, with DICE developers playing along with players. Win yourself a Friday Night Dog Tag.

2XP Event: Double XP in both Battlefield Hardline and Battlefield 4 for anyone playing on November 18.

More events are being played for the ten-day event.
