There’s no doubting it: Pokemon GO has done a better job of getting people up off their couch and outside than any multi-million government program could have ever hoped for.

And now, fitness centres are getting in on the action to blend fitness and Pokemon hunting, creating the ultimate workout in the process.

The 5km PokéRun has been created by Virgin Active in the UK, with the first outing to take place in London this Wednesday (July 5).

The run encourages people to blend working out with Pokemon GO, with the trek covering a number of key locations across the city, including the river Thames, which will surely offer up plenty of water Pokemon.

Considering the length, those participating are encouraged to put a 5km egg into an incubator so that by the end of the run they’ve got a brand new Pokemon for all their hard work.

Gaetano loves Doritos and always orders Mountain Dew with his KFC. He's not sorry. He also likes Call Of Duty, but would much rather play Civ. He hates losing at FIFA, and his pet hate is people who recline their seat on short-haul flights.
