Every hero in Overwatch shouts a line when they use their ultimate, and most have two versions: one for their own team and one for the enemy. Learning the enemy lines is one of the fastest ways to survive team fights. Hear “It’s high noon” or “Die… die… die…” and you know exactly what’s coming before you see it.
This is the full list for all 54 heroes in the current roster, including every 2026 hero up to Doctrine, who joined in Season 5. Quotes are grouped by role, with translations for the lines enemies hear in other languages.
How ultimate voice lines work
- Two versions. Most heroes have a friendly line their team hears and a hostile line the enemy team hears. Some, like Winston and Bastion, use the same sound for both.
- Foreign language usually means danger. Many heroes switch to their native language for the hostile line: Hanzo and Genji in Japanese, Zarya in Russian, Sigma in Dutch. If you hear it in another language, it’s probably aimed at you.
- What you hear when you ult. When you use your own ultimate, Support heroes and Widowmaker play the friendly line, while most Tank and Damage heroes play the hostile one.
- Echo copies them. When Echo duplicates a hero, she uses that hero’s ultimate lines too, so a Japanese dragon line might be coming from Echo.

New 2026 heroes
Overwatch dropped the “2” from its name at the start of 2026 and added more heroes in one year than ever before. If you haven’t played in a while, these are the ultimate lines you won’t recognize yet:
- Season 1: Anran, Domina, Emre, Jetpack Cat and Mizuki
- Season 2: Sierra
- Season 3: Shion
- Season 4: D.Mon
- Season 5: Doctrine
The lines worth reacting to instantly
Some ultimates give you a second or two to respond, and the voice line is your warning:
- “It’s high noon” (Cassidy): break line of sight now.
- “Die… die… die…” (Reaper): get distance or stun him.
- “Fire in the hole!” (Junkrat): find the tire and shoot it before it reaches you.
- “Nerf this!” (D.Va): get out of sight of the mech, behind a wall or barrier.
- Ryūjin no ken o kurae! (Genji): group up behind your tank and save crowd control for him.
- “Molten core!” (Torbjörn): stay out of the lava and burst the armored Torbjörn down.
- “Pass into the Iris” (Zenyatta), Kitsune no kagizume o tokihanate! (Kiriko), Chii-wít bpòk-bpâawng chii-wít! (Lifeweaver): the enemy is about to out-heal your push, so hold back until it ends.
Ultimate voice lines FAQ
Why do some heroes speak a different language in their ultimate?
It is a deliberate audio cue. Enemies hear the native-language version so they can tell an enemy ultimate from a friendly one in a noisy fight.
Which heroes say the same line to both teams?
Winston (a roar), Bastion (musical beeps) and Jetpack Cat (meows) don’t use words. Tracer’s Pulse Bomb lines are random and played to the thrower and the enemy team.
How many heroes are in Overwatch now?
54, as of Season 5 in October 2026: 15 Tank, 23 Damage and 16 Support.
