The NBA 2K21 demo has no dropped on PS4 and Xbox One, and with it a My Player creator that allows you to get a front foot ahead of the game’s release next month with My Career. With the demo’s launch, let’s jump into the NBA 2K21 My Player Builder to create the late great Kobe Bryant.
Kobe Bryant, may he rest in piece, is one of the more popular and difficult NBA superstars to build in NBA 2K21. As one of the top players possible in the game, you no doubt want to try and build your superstar around him. Whilst the maximum height for guards has been boosted — thanks, Mr Lillard! — we still want to be mindful of the precious method of player creation to ensure we end up with an ideal build.
Last year’s My Player Builder took things to a new level, and in NBA 2K21 the My Player Builder is similarly deep and complex. It comes with a number of familiar features if you haven’t played NBA 2K in a few years, but it’s undoubtedly reached a point where it’s the more unique, fascinating and fun components of the NBA 2K experience.
Just as is the case in all NBA 2K games before it, NBA 2K21 allows you to build and create players from scratch in My Player to use in the awesome My Career mode, and building players that are as close to certain NBA superstars will help significantly as you strive to climb the ranks to stardom.
You most definitely want to build a player and team around a Kobe Bryant-type player, and so he stands as one of the more important greats to build in NBA 2K21‘s My Player Builder. Here’s how you do it.
In order to get a Kobe Bryant build, you need to select the fifth pie graph. This ensure’s there is a good enough spread across shooting, finishing, ball handling, and defense. If you select it correctly you should end up with the below maximum attribute ratings
With the Physical Profile, you want to select the fourth pie graph. This will ensure our Kobe build has enough speed and vertical to fit the profile. The stats should be as below.
You need to max out the follow attributes:
- Close Shot
- Driving Layup
- Driving Dunk
- Mid-range Shot
- Free Throw
- Post Fade
- Pass Accuracy
- Ball Handle
- Perimeter Defense
- Lateral Quickness
- Defensive Rebound
The following stats should be near-maxed:
- Free Throw – 75
- Steal – 86
- Block – 54
And the remaining points on the below:
- Standing Dunk – 41
- Post Hook – 47
Weight, Height, And Wingspan
Bodyshape should be “Defined” (although this shouldn’t impact the result).
Height needs to be 6″5, this needs to ensure the build doesn’t lose any caps across their strong points like ball handling and shooting. If you select 6″6, you’ll see the build loses cap points across some key attributes, up to -5 for Ball Handling, which means you won’t get Kobe Bryant.
With weight, our build needs to be the absolute minimum for the position and build, at 175 lbs. This will impact the build’s strength, but their vertical and speed will increase. Wingspan at 77.0″.
Select “Slasher”. In the past this has been “Shot Creator” but choose either/or doesn’t appear to make a difference in this case.
And that’s it. You have your Kobe Bryant build.
