What’s causing the Battlefield 6 Steam Connection Lost error?
This particular issue appears specific to Steam users and began surfacing immediately after the deployment of update 1.1.1.0. Electronic Arts has acknowledged the bug as a known issue, but they’ve yet to give any kind of ETA on when a full resolution will be rolled out.

How to fix the Battlefield 6 Connection Lost Error on Steam
The good news? There are a few fixes you can try. They might not be guaranteed to work for everyone, but they’ve helped some players break past the loading screen of doom.
1. Restart the game and Steam
Let’s start simple. Fully quit both Battlefield 6 and the Steam launcher. Then, give it 10–15 seconds and reboot both.
This refreshes your active sessions in both the launcher and game, helping eliminate login handshake issues between Steam and EA’s servers.
2. Power cycle your router/modem
Sometimes your network just needs a fresh handshake too. Power cycling your modem and router resets your connection to your Internet Service Provider and may resolve routing or IP-related issues.
Unplug both your modem and router for 30 seconds, plug them back in, and let everything fully reconnect.
3. Use a wired Ethernet connection (if possible)
Wi-Fi is fine for YouTube: I mean, who needs triple-redundancy buffering for cat videos? But when it comes to gaming, especially with EA servers involved, Ethernet is king.
Switch to a wired connection to reduce packet loss, latency issues, and to establish the most stable environment possible for online-dependent game modes, even if it’s “just” campaign mode.
4. Turn off VPNs and proxies
Running Battlefield 6 through a VPN or proxy? That could be the cause of the connection error. EA’s server authentications don’t always play nicely with masked connections.
If you’re using any network-masking tool, disable it and try launching the game again directly through Steam.
5. Advanced networking fixes
Still having no luck? You can go a level deeper:
- Flush your DNS cache: Open Command Prompt (as administrator) and type:
ipconfig /flushdns. Hit Enter. - Change your DNS settings: Some users recommend Google DNS (8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4) for more stable connections.
