It’s being made by veterans of the genre, and with every new trailer comes a heightened sense of nostalgic joy from all those who watch it.
It’s no surprise that Yooka-Laylee is essentially the spiritual sequel to Banjo-Kazooie that we’ve all been waiting for.
Built from the ground up by several former key personnel from Rare during the Nintendo 64 era, Yooka-Laylee promises to reinvigorate the old-school open-world 3D platformer, or at least be a solid contributor to the genre without having the name “Mario” attached to the title.
We now have some information regarding the game’s fascinating multiplayer mode, which will feature eight unique arcade games.
These games can be found in Rextro’s Arcade, which, as you might imagine, is an in-game location housing access to the multiplayer arena.
You’ll be able to play all of the arcade games by yourself in a bid to top the leaderboards, or you can team up with up to four friends, including local co-op.
Yooka-Laylee will also feature two-player co-op in the main campaign, initiated simply by connecting an additional controller and teaming up.
You can check out the brand new multiplayer trailer below.
Yooka-Laylee is set to hit PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on April 11.
