Call Of Duty: Infinite Warfare developer Infinity Ward is coming down hard on players that took advantage of a loot box exploit last month.
During the game’s 12 Days Of Winter loot box giveaway, some gamers were able to exploit a bug in which they were able to unlock the same loot box over and over again, gaining an endless supply of in-game keys.
These keys, which act as Infinite Warfare‘s main form on in-game currency, can then be used an infinite number of times.
Players were using these keys to purchase rare supply drops at an extremely high rate.

As such, the game’s servers crashed at one point last month, forcing Infinite Warfare to make swift changes to the system.
Many of the items incurred through the exploit were scrapped from players’ inventories, and many within the community believed that would be the end of it.
However, Infinity Ward now appears to sweeping through the community with the ban hammer.
On Reddit, a number of players are reporting bans of at least 48 hours.
While players are complaining and some are even arguing they didn’t realise it was an exploit, the sad reality is that it clearly states in Activision’s Terms Of Service that it is within its right to ban users who take advantage of “an exploit in game code or other established rule of play.”
Infinity Ward multiplayer designer, David Mickner, also sent out an eerie reminder to players.
