The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim is getting the long-awaited remastered treatment, and will come to Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. However, console gamers are frustrated that they’ll have to fork out full price, while PC players who own the original will get the game for free.
Bethesda’s Pete Hines explained this on Twitter, saying the game “already exists” on PC.
@SerpentMonkey we’re making a game available for Xbox one and PS4. It already exists on PC, with high res textures.

PC players can simply install high res and graphical texture mods, which would bring their copy of Skyrim up to the graphical quality of what we can expect from the remaster. This means that anyone that already owns either Skyrim with all DLC or the Legendary Edition on PC can download the game for free.

You can buy the Legendary Edition now for $55US, which is a $5 saving, and start playing the game again and install mods to bring it up to the quality we should expect from the remaster.
