LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens for Nintendo 3DS features one of the biggest and most diverse character rosters in any LEGO game to date. From legendary Sith Lords and Jedi Masters to quirky background characters and deep-cut fan favorites, this game gives players a vast galaxy of personalities to explore.
Many characters are available from the beginning of the game, while others are unlocked through campaign progression, collectibles, or cheat codes. Some require you to complete True Jedi challenges, gather collectibles, or locate Carbonite Bricks hidden in hub worlds like Jakku, Takodana, and Starkiller Base.
Important: Unlocking a character doesn’t make them immediately playable. You’ll still need to purchase them using studs in the character menu before they can join your party.
How to Unlock Characters in LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens (3DS)
There are several ways to unlock new characters:
Story Mode Progression – Many core characters are unlocked automatically as you complete chapters.
Challenge Completion – Each level contains optional objectives (e.g., True Jedi, collectibles) that reward character unlocks.
Carbonite Bricks – Found throughout hub worlds; take them to the Decarbonizer in the medical center on D’Qar to unlock classic characters.
Cheat Codes – Some characters can be unlocked immediately by entering codes in the pause menu.
Why You Need a Diverse Character Roster
When replaying levels in Free Play mode, certain characters are required to access hidden paths, secret items, and collectibles. Abilities like Small Access, Force, Grapple, or Astromech are essential to fully explore each level. Building a diverse team ensures 100% completion is possible.
