EA Sports FC 26 is levelling up with the massive v1.1.0 update, addressing everything from gameplay tweaks and defensive logic to refinements in Career Mode and Ultimate Team. While there’s no official release date yet, the full patch notes have been detailed, laying the groundwork for substantial improvements across virtually every mode.

You asked, EA delivered: Defending just got smarter
One of the most noticeable upgrades comes in the defending department. EA has added more aggressive AI man-marking during competitive play, especially noticeable at kick-off. Player-controlled Jockey and Sprint Jockey responsiveness has been tuned up, so you’ll feel a tighter grip on your defender movements. Sprint Jockey speed was also given a slight buff to better evade attackers.
Better yet, annoying bugs where attackers would magically keep the ball after a challenge or where tackling animations would glitch into double-tackles have been quashed. Defensive positioning during corners has been improved, ensuring players hold back more often to defend, and standing tackle animations have also been refined for smoother execution.
Passing is finally less frustrating
If you’ve been screaming at your controller after a misplaced through pass, you’re not alone, and EA has heard your rage. The update makes ground and lobbed through passes more responsive to your aiming inputs and less “assist-heavy.” Ground through passes should now find their intended targets with more consistency, and first-time through pass requests won’t trigger unwanted ball traps anymore.

Low crosses have been fixed to register properly, headed lobbed through passes are now more accurate, and clearance animations have been sped up. Oh, and if your midfielder randomly hoofed the ball out of play on a simple pass? That’s been patched too.
Smoother movement, cleaner positioning
Controlled Sprint Dribble has had its speed moderately reduced to balance out attack flow, and AI teammates now display better awareness to avoid offside positions and stupid collisions. You’ll also see more reliable directed runs during sprint dribbles, so your forwards aren’t just statues anymore.
Goalkeeping AI has undergone a solid tune-up as well, with stronger punches, better reactions to near-post shots, and smarter decision making during corners. Manual GK movements are now more reliable, and irritating glitches — like goalkeepers deflecting balls back into their own net — have been ironed out.
Dribble and skill like you mean it
EA has worked on improving trapping consistency, reducing those moments where airy traps sent the ball into orbit. Players are better at keeping their speed while trapping and have fewer problems executing skill moves as intended. Say goodbye to Ball Rolls replacing your Croquetta inputs and flicks randomly duplicating themselves.
Career Mode gets quality-of-life buffs
If you’ve been grinding Manager or Player Career, good news: things are about to feel a lot smoother. The v1.1.0 update reduces the flood of unnecessary emails in Manager Career, fixes incorrect end-of-season evaluations, and improves AI job security calculations. Annoying visual glitches, misaligned avatars, and missing social media posts have been addressed as well.
There’s also a fix for caretaker managers being given a star rating that didn’t align with the club’s stature, and a more sensible logic behind mid-season manager changes. Deep simulation stats now display properly, and pre-match lighting bugs have been fixed during Moments challenges.
Ultimate Team enhancements
EA Sports FC 26 Ultimate Team fans will find a host of new convenience features. You can now sort SBCs by ‘Newest’ and ‘Expiry Date’, preview Evolution challenges before unlocking them, and favorite Objectives for better progress tracking, available both in the match Pause Menu and in the UT menu itself.

More importantly, the patch addresses dozens of bugs, from UI glitches and missing card roles to issues with the Market, Rivals rewards, and in-match visuals. These won’t drastically change your gameplay, but they certainly fix some momentum-killers.
Clubs: Penalty priorities and cleaner menus
Drop-In matches will now prioritize user-controlled players for penalty duty over the AI. A litany of minor fixes in Clubs tackles visual issues like previewing card backgrounds, misaligned Pro customizations, missing camera angles during celebrations, and some UI flow hiccups in the Evolution tab.
General fixes: Visuals, audio, and QoL updates
Across all platforms, expect global improvements in visuals, lighting accuracy, camera angles, and even controller vibrations. EA’s also cleaned up weird placeholder images, updated ad boards and kits, and fixed rare cases where trophies and pyrotechnics would bizarrely appear at centre pitch.
There’s too many fixes to list completely, but key highlights include improvements to:
- Audio quality on PS5 controller speakers
- Shader caching on PC to reduce early-match performance drops
- Game setting resets and UI alignment issues
- Improved CPU AI logic and foul frequency
A step forward, but still waiting on release date
While EA hasn’t revealed an exact drop date for v1.1.0 just yet, this update is shaping up to be one of the most comprehensive in EA Sports FC 26’s lifecycle so far. Gameplay should feel tighter, more responsive, and definitely less glitchy across modes, and Career Mode purists will appreciate the added polish where it counts.
