Cyberpunk 2077 keeps fine-tuning Night City, and the latest patch in Update 2.31 brings small but noticeable changes across all platforms, including Xbox Series X|S. After a major overhaul back in July with the 2.3 update, this new patch is more about polish than big features. But if you’re deep into the streets of Night City, it’s still worth your attention.

With quality-of-life improvements to its AutoDrive system and some handy updates to photo mode, Update 2.31 helps smooth out some of those pesky gameplay kinks, especially if you’re one to cruise the streets or capture stylish NPC poses. Plus, there’s a long list of quest and UI fixes across the board, making this patch a must-download for dedicated fans.
AutoDrive gets smarter (finally!)
One of the standout tweaks in 2.31 is how AutoDrive functions. If you’ve ever felt like the self-driving system was a little … rough around the edges, this update should give it the tune-up it desperately needed. Now, when driving to a set destination, your vehicle:
- Drives more smoothly
- Overtakes slow or blocking vehicles
- Ignores unnecessary traffic light stops
And for those who prefer to roam freely rather than follow a set path, Free Roam mode has also been upgraded to follow traffic rules more reliably and navigate the city better. A small fix, sure, but a big step toward immersion and that futuristic vibe we’re all after.
Photo Mode poses made more inclusive
If you’re a fan of Cyberpunk’s photo mode (and let’s be honest, with all the neon and noir, who isn’t?), you’ll appreciate the attention it’s getting. Update 2.31 makes most of the poses that were added with 2.3 work with all character genders.

Also, NPC collisions are now disabled, which means you can more easily position NPCs on things like car hoods without worrying about janky clipping or weird overlaps. It even fixes a bug where poses didn’t work correctly with Royce.
Quest fixes worth noting
CD Projekt RED also tackled a range of quest bugs that have been quietly annoying players.
For instance, in the “Freedom” mission, players who chose not to steal the Rayfield Caliburn “Mordred” had a broken journal entry. That’s now fixed.
The mission “Motorbreath” got a batch of bugfixes too:
- Fixed a missing follow-up message from River
- Resolved a problem where the Yaiba Semimaru could flip over, blocking progress
- Players can now trigger the quest even if River died during “The Hunt”
- Bonus: You can now unlock the Yaiba ARV-Q340 Semimaru via AUTOFIXER even if you fail “The Hunt”
The “Nitro (Youth Energy)” quest has also been cleaned up with a crash fix and an interface UI tweak for those using the “Larger HUD Elements” option.
Other notable fixes and tweaks
Here’s a roundup of other small yet impactful changes scattered across different systems:
- Vignette Toggle: You can now turn off the vignette effect under Graphics → Basic
- Delamain Messages: Fixed how some messages displayed weirdly
- Various localization and lipsync issues have been ironed out
- Fluff vendors? They got a round of bugfix love, too
PC, Mac & Platform-Specific Fixes
PC Fixes
- NVIDIA Reflex no longer disables when using DLSS Frame Generation (which caused the dreaded pink screen bug)
- Path Tracing now works properly again in certain scenarios
Mac Fixes
- Changing graphics presets no longer bumps Screen Space Reflections above the intended settings
- Fixed a permanent white screen that occurred when entering braindance with Frame Generation enabled
- HDR Mode now stays on when selecting “Defaults” in Video Settings
- Toggle for “Mute Game in Background” now behaves as expected
- Removed outdated restart disclaimer from “Disable Spatial Audio”
- App Store version no longer gets stuck on the “Press Space to continue” breaching screen
Oh, and of course, general stability and performance optimizations across all platforms help round out the patch.
Is it worth downloading?
Absolutely. Though it’s not a game-changer the way Update 2.0 or 2.3 were, patch 2.31 is a solid maintenance drop. These kinds of updates are what keep a complex open world like Cyberpunk 2077 feeling alive, responsive, and — most importantly — playable.

Whether you’re still grinding through gigs or lining up that perfect photomode snap in front of a flaming wreck with your favorite pose, there’s something here for you. And with these regular patches, CD Projekt RED continues to show a meaningful commitment to post-launch refinement, especially after the rocky launch years ago.
If it’s been a while since you jacked into Night City, this might be the gentle nudge you needed to rev the engine back up. Read the full list of patch notes here.
