Black Ops 7 will carry forward select Black Ops 6 Zombies Skins, Prestige Rewards

If you’ve been keeping tabs on Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, you’ve probably noticed that the ‘carry forward’ feature has gone through more plot twists than a Zombies Easter egg quest. Initially, developer Treyarch and publisher Activision planned to carry over all cosmetic items, weapon blueprints, Double XP tokens, and Gobblegums from Black Ops 6.

But the community wasn’t thrilled. The backlash was swift and fierce: many players voiced concerns about the carryover of overly goofy and immersion-breaking skins like Roger from American Dad and the Beavis & Butt-Head operators making their way into Black Ops 7’s more grounded setting.

In response, Treyarch scaled things back hard, stating only Double XP tokens and Gobblegums would transfer, and even that would only apply starting with the first season. That decision sparked even more pushback, particularly from Zombies fans who had spent hours unlocking specific operator skins and rewards.

A step forward: Zombies rewards returning

Well, now we’ve got a new development, and it’s a welcome one. According to a recent announcement by @Treyarch on Twitter, a select set of cosmetic items — from the Zombies game mode in Black Ops 6 — will carry over into Black Ops 7 at launch.

This includes:

  • All four main quest Zombies operator skins from Black Ops 6
  • The ultra-rare “New Orders” prestige level 1000 operator skin
  • The exclusive Guild Override camo

These additions are a direct nod to the dedication that Zombies players put into completing challenges, solving Easter eggs, and grinding through prestige levels. It’s a smart compromise, preserving the more lore-appropriate, hard-earned cosmetics without bringing back every zany bundle from last year.

Vault Edition backlash leads to even more changes

This isn’t the only time Treyarch has reversed course based on community feedback. Fans recently took issue with some of the controversial Vault Edition skins for Black Ops 7. One particular gripe targeted the T.E.D.D. skin, which didn’t quite resemble the version seen in Black Ops 2.

Responding swiftly, Treyarch updated the skin to better reflect the original design. The studio also hinted at further adjustments to other Vault Edition cosmetics, although details on those updates are still under wraps.

Call of Duty vs Battlefield: The showdown reignites

It’s going to be a major holiday season for shooter fans. For the first time in four years, Call of Duty and Battlefield are dropping major new entries in the same window.

After its rocky debut in 2021, Battlefield 2042 left a bad taste in many players’ mouths. EA and DICE are looking to course-correct with Battlefield 6, set for release on October 10. The open beta impressed fans, and it’s clear the studio learned some hard lessons.

But with Treyarch making careful, community-driven tweaks to Black Ops 7, including this Zombies skin carry forward news, Call of Duty fans might find plenty of reasons to stay on the ride rather than jump off for Battlefield’s next big gamble.

A win for Zombies veterans

So, should you be excited? Honestly, yeah. It’s always frustrating to grind for a dope skin or camo just to have it wiped clean the next year. Bringing back those Zombies main quest rewards and the high-tier prestige skin gives recognition to players who truly went the extra mile.

It might not be a full rollback of the carry forward feature, but it’s a meaningful gesture, and a sign that player feedback is actually shaping the future of Black Ops 7 in real time.

And with more cosmetic changes hinted at, fans should keep their eyes peeled, this definitely won’t be the last update Treyarch drops leading into launch.
