High on Life 2 was originally gunning for an earlier launch, but Squanch Games recently confirmed that the highly anticipated sequel will now arrive on February 13, 2026 for Xbox Game Pass. While that delay might sting a bit, the developers have a wild surprise up their sleeves that might make the wait more palatable.

Retro is the name of the game (literally)
In a new interview with IGN, Squanch Games’ Creative Officer and Art Director, Mikey Spano, revealed that High on Life 2 will include more than five retro games, fully emulated and playable within the game itself.
One of those games is the infamously bizarre NES title Bible Adventures — a cult oddity known for spawning countless memes and earning notoriety on retro gaming forums. As for the rest of the titles? Squanch is keeping those details under wraps. Expect them to surface organically while exploring the game’s delightfully absurd universe.
This feature builds on similar content from the original High on Life, where players could channel-surf through five classic B-movies on in-game TVs or even in dedicated alien movie theatres. It was such an out-there addition, yet it blended perfectly with the game’s irreverent style. Naturally, Squanch Games saw the fan love and decided to dive even deeper into nostalgic waters for the sequel.
Not just games. B-Movies, too
Spano didn’t stop at the retro games. He also confirmed that “some surprising B+ tier movies” will be included in High on Life 2 as watchable content. While we don’t have specific titles confirmed just yet, it’s safe to assume we’ll see some mixed-bag, low-budget (but loveable) cinematic gems awkwardly pasted inside alien homes or movie theatres across the game’s weird and wonderful worlds.
Fans of cheesy VHS-era action flicks or offbeat space operas should keep their eyes peeled, as the developers clearly love curating these love letters to media madness.
What’s the catch?
The truth? There probably isn’t one. High on Life 2 looks like it’s doubling down on its absurdist charm, shaping up to be more than just a run-and-gun sequel but also a wild entertainment sandbox. Like the first game, you won’t just be shooting intergalactic baddies, you’ll be channeling your inner pop culture archaeologist too.

With more than five retro games, surprise movie inclusions, and a likely slew of Easter eggs, Squanch Games is going all in.
When Can You Play It?
High on Life 2 arrives on February 13, 2026, and will be available as a day-one launch title on Xbox Game Pass. Whether you’re chasing alien bounties or just chilling with some 8-bit niche games from three decades ago, it sounds like you’ll have a lot to do here, probably too much in the best way possible.
Between the release delay and all the surprises packed into it, High on Life 2 already feels like its own meta commentary on entertainment itself, a playable mixtape of weird art, forgotten Game Paks, and ironically loved films. Just as its predecessor shocked and delighted players, the sequel looks set to keep that irreverent tradition going tenfold.
Grab a controller. Dust off your nostalgia. And prepare to dive into High on Life 2, February 13, 2026 can’t come soon enough.
