The 10 Best Rookies in NBA 2K26

Here’s a full look at the top 10 rated rookies in NBA 2K26, ranked by their launch day Overall Ratings. Let’s just say, the top spot isn’t much of a surprise, but a few names on this list definitely turned some heads.

1. Cooper Flagg — 82 OVR (Dallas Mavericks)

Let’s start with the obvious: Cooper Flagg is that guy. Rated an 82 Overall right out of the gate, the Mavericks’ new franchise forward is one of the few rookies in NBA 2K history to debut with an 80+ rating. If that doesn’t scream “generational prospect,” nothing does. While we haven’t seen him in an NBA game yet, Flagg’s size, feel for the game, and two-way potential have 2K’s devs all in, and for good reason.

2. Dylan Harper — 78 OVR (San Antonio Spurs)

Dylan Harper may have gone second in the draft, but in almost any other year, he’d be the clear number one. The Spurs scooped him up to pair with Victor Wembanyama, creating one of the most intriguing young duos in the league. A 78 Overall feels right for a guard with his blend of scoring, court vision and physical size. If Harper breaks out early, don’t be surprised if that rating climbs fast.

3. Ace Bailey — 77 OVR (TBD)

Ace Bailey landed at fifth overall on draft night, but he’s no slouch when it comes to raw talent. NBA 2K26 rates him at a 77, reflecting his explosive athleticism and offensive versatility. Bailey’s pre-draft process raised some eyebrows, which may have lowered his draft stock a bit, but this guy can flat-out hoop. Expect him to be a strong contender for Rookie of the Year alongside Flagg and Harper.

4. V.J. Edgecombe — 76 OVR (Philadelphia 76ers)

Edgecombe’s skillset feels tailor-made for today’s NBA. Able to guard multiple positions and stretch defenses with his shooting and slashing, the 76ers’ rookie is quietly one of the most promising two-way players of this class. If his chemistry with Jared McCain gels early, Philly might have something special brewing.

5. Kon Knueppel — 75 OVR (Charlotte Hornets)

The fourth overall pick in this year’s draft, Kon Knueppel turned plenty of heads in the Summer League: enough to earn MVP honours. The Hornets, despite being one of the NBA’s more rebuilding squads, could fast-track his development into the starting lineup. His game leans on high IQ decisions and three-level scoring, and the 75 OVR rating feels like a solid starting point.

6. Tre Johnson — 75 OVR (Washington Wizards)

Tre Johnson was viewed as a potential steal when Washington picked him up. A Texas product with All-Star level potential, many analysts pegged him as high as a top-three pick. He’s got the green light to have an offensive impact right out of the gate and should benefit greatly from learning under seasoned vets. Don’t be shocked if he becomes a MyCAREER fan favourite.

7. Khaman Maluach — 74 OVR (Phoenix Suns)

Here’s where things start to get spicy. Maluach was actually taken 10th overall by the Rockets but ended up with the Suns after a draft-day trade. Now with more minutes up for grabs in the wake of Kevin Durant’s departure, Maluach may get a chance to shine early. Although 2K26 rates him below some higher-drafted players, the 7-footer’s physical tools and rim protection should make him a popular big man off the bench in your rotations.

8. Jeremiah Fears — 73 OVR (New Orleans Pelicans)

Jeremiah Fears checks in with a 73 Overall after being selected seventh overall by the Pelicans. His game needs polish, particularly in terms of shooting consistency and defensive reads, but his upside is legit. If New Orleans can finally put together a cohesive roster around its young core, Fears could carve out a major role sooner than expected.

9. Egor Demin — 72 OVR (Brooklyn Nets)

The Nets went with Egor Demin at eighth overall, betting on his vision and feel for the game. Some scouts saw shades of a young Jokic in his playmaking ability, especially in transition. Despite being rated just a 72 at launch, Demin’s trajectory is one to watch. His biggest hurdle? Developing a consistent jump shot at the pro level.

10. Collin Murray-Boyles — 72 OVR (Toronto Raptors)

Rounding out the top 10 is Collin Murray-Boyles, who joined the Raptors out of South Carolina. He’s gritty, tough on the boards, and built his pre-draft rep with high-level defense and hustle plays. The 72 Overall might seem low, but if you’re into lockdown defenders and hardworking glue guys, he’s going to be one heck of a role player in 2K26.

From Flagg’s monumental debut rating to some of the dark horse prospects like Maluach and Demin, this rookie class is brimming with intrigue and potential. NBA 2K26 feels locked in with these initial ratings, but as we’ve seen in the past, all it takes is one breakout performance to shake everything up.
