Battlefield 6 reveal trailer crushes Black Ops 7 in likes within just one hour

Move over Black Ops 7, because Battlefield 6 just dropped the hammer. In just a single hour after going live, EA’s Battlefield 6 reveal trailer has already overtaken the Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 trailer in YouTube likes, and it’s not even close. Despite boasting fewer total views, the overwhelming enthusiasm for Battlefield 6’s cinematic debut signals that diehard FPS fans might be ready for a new king of the hill.

Battlefield goes boom, and fans are loving it

The buzz surrounding Battlefield 6 hit peak velocity this week after EA officially confirmed the game’s title and dropped an action-packed cinematic trailer that’s all but guaranteed to light up warzone fans’ adrenaline levels. Set in a modern-day conflict scenario, a setting fans have been begging for, the trailer pulled in 194,000 likes with under 18,000 views during its YouTube Premiere. That number has since rocketed to 268,000 likes off the back of 2.5 million views.

For comparison? Black Ops 7’s trailer, which was revealed during Xbox’s June showcase and has been live for over a month and a half, racked up a respectable 40 million views, but only 140,000 likes.

What’s behind the Battlefield bump?

The Battlefield franchise hasn’t had a mainline release since 2021’s Battlefield 2042, which landed with a thud and disappointed many fans. But as time has passed, and updates patched some of the game’s major issues, the player base has grown hungry for the next real chapter in the series. Battlefield 6 looks to deliver on that with a modern setting and tease of tight, explosive action.

There’s also the matter of hype momentum. This was a Premiere event, meaning fans were able to like the video even before it technically dropped.

Meanwhile, back at Black Ops …

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is facing a crowded battlefield of its own. It serves as somewhat of a spiritual successor and follow-up to both Black Ops 6 from last year and the revered Black Ops 2 from 2012. It also continues the franchise’s penchant for enigmatic, surreal campaign storytelling, bringing back fan-favorite David Mason for another go.

However, some fans aren’t entirely sold. The sci-fi lean of BO7 and the decision to go back-to-back on Black Ops entries after MW2/MW3 has left some in the community questioning the creative directions. Even with fresh characters and a future-forward aesthetic, interest in the trailer seems to be slower-burning compared to the explosive Battlefield 6 debut.

The stage is set for an FPS showdown

With Battlefield 6 targeting a rumored October 2025 release, and a huge multiplayer reveal coming on July 31, EA is building momentum like it’s setting up artillery fire. A beta is also confirmed before release, which could further inflate anticipation and goodwill among veteran players.

Over on the Call of Duty front, we’re heading into Season 5 for Black Ops 6, and while BO7 continues to trickle out details, the rumoured COD Next event in September could be a key moment to win back excitement.

So who’s winning this war, really?

It’s easy to point to likes and wave a victory flag, but let’s not forget: views, time, and full game performance will tell the real tale. Besides, Battlefield has a history of ramping up hype with glossy, explosive trailers. Still, what’s crystal clear is this: Battlefield 6 has thundered into the spotlight, and for the first time in a while, it actually feels like a true FPS heavyweight bout is about to unfold.

And in the court of YouTube’s thumbs-up brigade? Battlefield 6 just fired the first (and loudest) shot.

Stay tuned as we track both games’ road to launch, and be ready, because the FPS battleground is about to explode.
