Xbox Game Pass dominates download charts With three major hits

New data from Alinea Analytics reveals that Xbox Game Pass continues to be a game-changer, literally. According to their latest estimates for last week’s top cross-platform downloads (spanning Xbox, PlayStation, and Steam), Microsoft’s subscription service drove some seriously impressive numbers, with three heavy-hitting titles landing high on the list.

College Football 26 scores a touchdown thanks to Game Pass

Claiming the number one spot was EA Sports College Football 26. The game’s 10-hour EA Play trial offered early access to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers, and clearly, players jumped on the hype train. The game saw a staggering 1.9 million downloads across all platforms last week.

Here’s the kicker: Xbox downloads outpaced PlayStation downloads by a 2-to-1 margin. That’s the Game Pass effect. It’s almost like giving players early access to a long-anticipated title directly within their subscription will make them show up: who knew?

Tony Hawk’s comeback rides the Xbox wave

Also reaping the rewards of Game Pass was Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4, which reportedly clocked in 1.2 million downloads during the week. And get this: a whopping 69% of those were on Xbox.

It’s a bit hazy when it comes to traditional purchase numbers, though. The data shows that around 100,000 people bought the game on Steam and PlayStation combined, but there’s no clear word yet on outright purchases for Xbox. Makes sense, because if players are already getting Game Pass access, direct sales may not be the main stat to watch here. Still, it’s clear Xbox users are hungry for a nostalgia-fueled skate session.

PC-Only PEAK climbs to the top

Slotting into the third spot on the chart is PEAK, a PC-only title… for now, anyway. While Xbox players remain on the sidelines for this one, it managed to storm the top download charts, proof that even without console backing, a strong PC presence can give a game major visibility. Here’s hoping an Xbox release isn’t too far off.

Cyberpunk 2077 finds new life with discounts and PlayStation Plus

Cyberpunk 2077 also had a resurgence, thanks to a well-timed discount on Steam and a feature spot in PlayStation Plus. It’s not the first revival arc for CD Projekt Red’s looter-shooter sci-fi behemoth, but it’s yet another signal that price drops and service inclusion can breathe new life into older titles.

Mecha BREAK makes a bold entrance, but can it last?

Finally, we saw the entry of Mecha BREAK, a free-to-play title exclusive to Xbox and PC. It launched earlier this month and was downloaded 668,000 times last week alone. Steam led the charge in raw numbers, but Xbox held its own: 135,000 of those downloads came from Microsoft’s platform.

In total, the game has seen about 600,000 players on Xbox so far. But before you throw a confetti shower, here’s the catch. According to Alinea, daily active users (DAU) and concurrent user counts (CCU) have started declining rapidly. Early spikes might’ve helped grab attention, but Mecha BREAK may need some post-launch fuel to keep the engines running long-term.

Game Pass: Still the MVP

So what’s the takeaway? Well, if there was still any doubt that Xbox Game Pass can seriously influence download counts, this week’s chart makes it pretty clear. Both College Football 26 and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 climbed the ranks largely on the back of Game Pass exposure.

While not all of these games are exclusive to Xbox, their performance proves that accessibility and anticipation, especially when bundled under a subscription, are a potent combo. With titles drawing in millions of players in their first few days, Microsoft’s strategy is continuing to shape the modern gaming ecosystem in a major way.

And if this week’s numbers are anything to go by, players are more than happy to jump in, especially when they feel like they’re getting incredible value right from the get-go.
