Call of Duty fans will get the opportunity to play Modern Warfare for the first time ahead of the game’s October 25 release with a weekend-long alpha set to take place from Friday, 23 August.

PlayStation 4 owners can download and play Modern Warfare for free from Saturday Australia time, giving access to the game’s 2v2 Gunfight mode over the course of two days.
How to download the Modern Warfare Alpha
From Saturday, August 24, you’ll be able to download the Modern Warfare 2v2 open Alpha Test, which is free to everyone exclusively on PlayStation 4 (sorry, Xbox fans).

The Alpha will include five different 2v2 maps, alongside two new maps never publicly seen before. Importantly, you don’t need to have pre-ordered the game, now have PlayStation Plus, in order to play the Alpha test.
The Modern Warfare alpha will run from 3am AEST, Saturday 24 August, through to Monday (Sunday US time).

The three maps included will be King, Pine, and Stack, along with Speedball and Docks, which will be seen publicly for the first time.
Modern Warfare stands to be the most anticipated and exciting Call of Duty release for years. If you weren’t already hyped for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare — and, really, you’d be crazy not to be — then all of the news and gameplay clips thus far may just tip you over the edge into hypeville.
Preload and Download Size
Preload of the Modern Warfare Alpha is now live ahead of its launch tomorrow morning.
The download size is 36.8 GB, and can be downloaded via the PlayStation Store.
We’ll finally get a chance to go hands-on this weekend with Modern Warfare, and check out the new 2v2 mode.
